Hey guys! Today I want to share my favorite foundations for oily skin. As someone who has extremely oily skin (and is VERY picky), I’ve been through loads of foundations. Being a professional dancer, I need a foundation that will give me great coverage and keep my skin matte, but not weigh me down. I tested all of these foundations through long, sweaty dance rehearsals, and I’m glad to say they all stayed in place and kept my face matte for at least 10 hours.
Not only is the kind of foundation you use important, but it’s how you apply it. After I share my top 4 foundations, I’ll teach you the best way to apply them for all-day wear.
For Extra Oily Skin: Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick
Holy matte! This was the first foundation I used that really surprised me. It truly made my skin feel like velvet. This is probably the most mattifying foundation I’ve used. This foundation stick is great for someone with oily skin all over, with no dryness. It’s definitely a higher coverage foundation as well. This foundation does have a slightly lower wear time than the others on my list. I would wear this foundation for 8-10 hours, as opposed to an all-day 12-14 hour foundation. It also oxidized a lot when applied, so be careful when picking your color!
For Combination Skin: Fenty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation
Coming in at #3 is Rihanna’s Fenty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. If you have dry, combination skin, this is the one for you! This foundation is super light and will keep your skin nice and matte all day. It definitely felt the lightest on my skin, almost like a BB cream. It’s also good for layering if you need more coverage in certain areas. My only complaint about this one is that it has a bit of slip to it. When sweating, or in extremely humid weather, this foundation came off when I touched my face. However, this would be ideal for someone with skin on the dry side, the foundation would sink right in!
For Full Coverage: Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation SPF 15
Full coverage, mattifying, and SPF? This foundation has it all! It does a great job of staying on your face all day and keeping oily skin matte. I love using this if I’m on stage and need a sturdy base and matte skin that will last under harsh lighting (amazing for a night out as well). It’s also great if your skin is breaking out because of the high coverage this foundation provides. I really don’t have any complaints about this one. However, if you want a super light-weight foundation, this probably isn’t for you.
For a Natural Glow: Becca Cosmetics Skin Love Weightless Blur Foundation
This foundation gives you full coverage and oil control, but it doesn’t feel like you have anything on! It provides a very natural, soft finish. I wore this throughout a 12-14 hour day, and it stayed in place and kept my skin velvety smooth the whole time! This foundation feels weightless has great, buildable coverage but doesn’t slip off!
Application to Last All Day!
I have tried every way possible to apply foundation. I have found two ways that personally work the best for me. Again, I have very oily skin with occasional breakouts. I’ve found these two methods work best to get my foundation on in even, pigmented layers, and keeps the foundation on all day.
Beauty Blenders are amazing for getting a perfect matte look. I like to rinse mine in some water and squeeze them to get all excess liquid out. I repeat this when I move on to setting powder, and I’m matte ALL day! The BEAKY 5 pc set from Amazon is incredible, and has a price and quality you cannot beat. Check it out below!
The other way I love to apply my foundation is with a flat top Kabuki brush. This is great for thicker formulas, or stick foundations. I love using the brush to get a smooth, airbrush finish. My favorite is the Kabuki from Amazon. It’s ultra soft, and very high-quality for such a good price. Try it out using the link below!
